The body is the world’s most advanced bio-computer. It improves and strengthens itself the more you use it. It is equipped to heal itself with proper fuel, exercise, and rest. It has numerous built-in safety features and ‘warning lights’ that allow it to self-maintain. It is a miracle, one of God’s greatest creations.
In order to find the key to this miraculous creation, you need to go all the way to the root…the cells. Every system in the body relies on healthy, functional cells. If you have healthy cells, you have a healthy body. Our cells are under constant attack by environmental and self-inflicted enemies known as ‘free-radicals’. These free-radicals are produced from pollutants in the air, chemicals and preservatives in our food, radiation, cigarette smoke, herbicides, etc. Free radicals are unstable molecules that react quickly with other compounds, attacking the nearest stable molecule and stealing its electron. The protectors of the cells are called ‘antioxidants’.
Antioxidants are produced naturally in the body. Unfortunately, as we age, the production slows and eventually stops. The king of all antioxidants is a substance known as Glutathione. It is a tri-peptide Amino Acid composed of Glutamic Acid, Glyceine, and Cysteine. It is the body’s protection against cell death caused by free radicals. Glutathione donates an electron to the free-radical, stopping the chain reaction of ‘electron stealing’ (it is stable in either form). It basically forms a force field around the cell, insulating it from damage. A diet rich in antioxidants can have enormous effects in the reduction of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. So how do we increase the amount of Glutathione in our cells?
EAT YOUR VEGETABLES!
In order to produce enough antioxidants in your cells, you must provide them with the raw materials to do so. Religiously eat 5-8 servings of fruits and vegetables (preferably organically grown) per day. Diets rich in Vitamin E and C are ideal.
There are many Glutathione supplements on the market. Many of them are prone to destruction in the acidic environment in the stomach and are absorbed prematurely, limiting the positive effects. This premature absorption can sometimes cause homocysteine complications, so consult an expert before choosing one. There are also natural supplements made from organic fruits and vegetables that can supplement a healthy diet.
INTRAVENOUS GLUTATHIONE REPLACEMENT
Glutathione IV replacement is very expensive, invasive, and temporary; so it is not ideal, but should be listed as an option.
